Day Five: Danielle

Providing an exciting account of bringing Boutique to life is Danielle, Group Visual Merchandising manger:

I have been lucky enough to be involved in the boutique project from the start; designing and developing our ideas as it progressed. Firstly we had to come up with a concept for the ‘shop fit’ followed by the use of a neon sign for the branding. Work then turned to designing a brand new mannequin that would reflect the mood and style flavours of the Boutique collection.

At the same time as this was going on, Stuart (Design Director) appointed Julie Verhoeven to design a wallpaper illustration that was to become an integral part of the visual merchandising kit for Boutique.

Next was to show the business and press what boutique would look like which, we did in April this year but then came the really fun part…the opportunity to design the ‘pop up’ store at 10 Fouberts place. We decided that this should be clean, fun and funky and so set about designing and buying props and furniture for the space.

Some of the exciting in store features include:

  • The neon sign
  • A pink 1950’s sideboard that has been converted in to a cash wrap
  • An acrylic ‘grab’ wall for all the wonderful new accessories, cd’s, books and gifts
  • Cool vintage  lounge furniture
  • A listening post and head set (procured by Lil in partnership with the record label ‘Rough Trade‘)
  • Amazing bell jars for vintage trinkets and jewels
  • Giant 3 D acrylic elements taken from the wall paper to create theatre
  • Star plinths and fitting room curtains also taken from the Julie wallpaper

With just days to go, we’re putting the finishing touches to the project that includes a giant cat sandwich board for outside the store………..See you all next week !!

Boutique in one word: BOUTIQUEY-LICSOUS!
